Hardly anyone has heard of trampolines. They can provide great fun for hours on end, without any age restrictions. It is mainly parents who decide to buy them, although, interestingly enough, some solutions are also eagerly supported by owners of gyms, play parks or even city councillors. A wide choice of different types of trampolines means that not everyone knows what to choose. Here we will explain the advantages of different types of trampolines.

Classification of trampolines according to their purpose

In theory, it’s nothing complicated. In theory, it is nothing complicated – you get on the mat and simply jump. In practice, however, there is a reason why several types of this type of equipment have been developed. Not only do they make it possible to have fun, but they also support professionals in their pursuit of sporting success. Depending on the place where they are installed, trampolines can be classified according to their purpose:

– Garden ( outdoor) trampoline – this is the most typical type of trampoline. As the name suggests, it is installed in the garden. It is primarily designed for outdoor play on a private area, but not only. Depending on its design, it can be adapted for both children and adults. It is an excellent choice to make your leisure time more attractive and at the same time to keep fit. It is placed on the ground on a suitable frame.
– In-ground trampoline – one of the more fascinating solutions due to its versatility. Basically, it’s a trampoline that you dig into the ground. Though in most cases it is much smaller than other trampolines, it gives the possibility to combine it with another one. These trampolines, due to the way they are installed (fixed to the ground), significantly improve the safety of those using the device. Another great advantage is the freedom in creating trampoline sets. They are perfect for smaller playgrounds as well as large areas.
– Fitness trampoline – this is a popular choice among gym and fitness club owners. This trampoline is primarily designed for training. You can’t jump too high on it and it’s small in size, but it allows you to plan your fitness training and various muscle groups. The structure of a trampoline makes it easier to perform exercises, which, apart from improving physical fitness, have a significant impact on burning fat tissue. This type of trampoline can be placed indoors, e.g. in a gym.

You can also classify trampolines into public ones, private ones, as well as those for children and adults. The freedom of access is determined by the person who buys it, but nevertheless, for example, in-ground ones will work better as public, while garden ones as private. As far as for whom such a trampoline will be used, it is determined, among other things, by the construction of the device.

Classification of trampolines according to their construction

A standard trampoline consists of several components: frame, jumping mat, springs, safety net and connections for stability. Not every trampoline has all of these elements, which changes its features and application possibilities. Among others, we can distinguish:

– trampolines with an external safety net – these are usually garden trampolines that have a net mounted on the outside, along the edge of the device, to protect against falling. Such trampolines are mainly designed for older children, teenagers and adults, as there is a risk of bumping into a structural element.

– Trampolines with an internal safety net – in this case the net is located inside the trampoline, so the user does not come into contact with the springs or the frame. The play space is automatically smaller, but it will be a good choice for small children, simply in terms of safety.
– trampolines without a safety net – these can be, for example, earth trampolines. This is a comfortable solution for several reasons. First of all, you can actually start playing on the run. There is no need to climb ladders, you are not restricted in any way and you can jump off such a trampoline at any time. In-ground trampolines do not need a safety net, because falling off the jumping mat does not result in a fall from a great height.

To sum up… There are really many types of trampolines. You can find ones designed for athletes (as a rule, they are smaller to bounce higher), for children (with a large mat to jump on) or ones that will diversify public recreation places (e.g. in-ground trampolines). When choosing a device, it is worth paying attention to ensure that it has safety certificates.
